Compressed PET Bottle Scrap is used PET Bottle that has been compressed. PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) is a transparent type of plastic with a gloss finish. PET has all the benefits of glass – being a strong inert material that does not react with foods. PET is lighter, durable and a more cost effective option that is strong and shatterproof.

Another benefit of using PET is that it is also highly recyclable, PET can be recycled infinitely. Some steps are needed to be done to recycle PET. There are some things that needs to be looked out when recycling PET. When the the plastic resin goes through multiple heat cycles during the recycling process, the breakdown of polymer chains occurs, which degrades the PET’s quality. Some additives can be added to raise PET’s quality. These additives are molecules that attach to the ends of broken polymer chains, reconnect them, and produce the longer chains needed for production of PET bottles or other products.

 

By recycling PET we can create a circular economy. Circular economy is a production model which involves reusing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. Circular economy can help tackle environmental challenges because it will minimize emissions and consumption of raw material.

Recycled PET also known as rPET is pretty much the same as PET, the difference is that the raw material comes from a recycled source rather than an original source. rPET can be heated and molded into various of shapes.​
